Here at Mona Vale Music, we love our student community. We offer music tuition for students across the Northern Beaches of Sydney, right here in Mona Vale. Our lessons cover drums, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, bass guitar, ukelele, piano, vocals, violin, clarinet, and saxophone. Lessons are catered to your style and level of experience. Regardless of your age, background or experience, MVM has a teacher ready to inspire you!

Michael Sparks


Michael Sparks

Drums

Michael graduated from Southern Cross University with a Bachelor of Music, majoring in drums. This helped to build a solid foundation for his music career. After uni, "Sparksy" spent 2 years overseas in China and Thailand, with international cover band 'Jet Star'. He has worked as a session musician in Sydney, and is now enjoying life with one of Sydney's best corporate cover bands, "Peppermint Jam".

Matt


Matt Robinson

Guitar + Bass + Ukelele

Matt Robinson, of ronbinsonics has been teaching guitar for 15 years. He can teach a range of styles and skill levels, including the ameb syllabus. As well as being a sought after live musician, matt has also featured prominenently in a studio setting, as a top session player. matt is highly skilled in the art of guitar and pedal building, and has a natural knack for making things awesome.

Elise


Elise Hodgson

Clarinet + Saxophone

Elise has been playing for 12 years. She is currently studying a Bachelor of Music Education at the Sydney Conservatorium. Having played in orchestras and stage bands, Elise enjoys both classical, big band and jazz music. Elise believes that music lessons should be enjoyable and beneficial to each individual student.

John


John Lawrie

Guitar + Bass + Ukelele

John has been playing guitar for as long as he could hold one, and has just finished his Bachelors degree in contemporary music at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. He has experience playing with bands both live and in the studio, and can teach guitar and bass in a large variety of genres. John loves helping students discover the joy of making music and grow in their playing.

Jo


Jo Longhurst

Piano

Jo has taught music in schools for over 20 years. Jo studied at Newcastle Conservatorium and became a secondard music teacher. She then branched out and became a primary music specialist. She works at Newport Public School as a learning support teacher. Jo loves understanding the latest way kids learn. She plays and teaches all styles of piano from Classical to Jazz.

Ben


Ben Frank

Guitar

Ben has been playing and teaching guitar for 13 years. He has gigged extensively in Sydney as well as up and down the East Coast of Australia. Having completed his Bachelor of Music degree at the Australian Institute of Music in 2014, Ben can teach a range of styles and genres.

Jenny


Jenny Ridgeway

Flute

Jenny has been playing for 11 years and has experience with AMEB, Trinity and ABRSM Syllabuses. She is currently studying for a Bachelor of Music Studies at the Conservatorium of Music. She enjoys playing in orchestras and wind ensembles.

Joanna


Joanna Laub

Vocals

Jo loves to sing and is passionate about teaching. She has over 15 years experience teaching both children & adults, sharing her knowledge & experience of contemporary technique, learning repertoire, performance skills & beginner songwriting. Jo is a qualified Secondary music teacher & thrives on identifying and uncovering her students potential. Jo specialises in supporting each student on their own personal journey with the voice and it’s connection to emotion and unique artistic expression.

Charlotte


Charlotte Grieg

Piano

Charlotte taught her first piano lesson at the age of 18 and loved it so much she has been teaching music in one way or another ever since. She holds a Bachelor of Music (Music Education) from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and has taught classroom music in Sydney and London. As well as teaching piano she plays the clarinet and guitar, and is currently studying her Masters in Music Therapy through Melbourne University. She loves teaching people of all ages and skill levels and has a particular interest in adapting lessons to suit individual needs and reasons for learning.
